A vibrant midcentury American Post-Impressionist painting of four brightly colored horses against a variegated background of purples, greens and blues. Signed lower left, "Wilenchick" for Clement Samuel Wilenchick, (American, 1900-1957), a listed artist and painted circa 1955. An early and notable American Modernist, Wilenchik was the recipient of numerous awards including the 1937 Criterion Art Prize. He exhibited widely and with success including at the San Francisco Art Association.
