Born in Felina, in the province of Reggio Emilia, Chiesi completed his studies in Milan and subsequently studied with Vicentini Enzo and Gianfranco Ferroni. Chiesi's first solo exhibition was held in 1979 at the Gallery Marini in Florence, and he has since exhibited with success in every major Italian city including Milan, Venice, and Rome. He is the winner of numerous prizes, medals and juried awards. In the mid 1990's he moved to the remote countryside to continue his work surrounded by silence and nature. Chiesi is well-listed in all relevant art-reference works and his work is held in the permanent collections over fifty public institutions.
