Peter Brandes is a largely self-taught artist whose, frequently abstract, art revolves around themes from Christianity and Ancient Greek mythology. Brandes has also illustrated a number of books including Homer’s Iliad. In addition to his career as a fine artist, he also works with clay and has created a number of publicly commissioned installations of his ceramic work including the enormous Roskilde Jars which now stand outside the main Roskilde Railway Station. These ceramic works are particularly inspired by ancient Greek myth. The artist has also created large-scale works in stained glass including for the Church at Nordkap and, in 1998, the Village of Hope Church in Los Angeles.
