The youngest artist ever to be elected to membership of the American Watercolor Society, Laurence Philip Sisson was born in Boston and studied at the Yale Summer School. He became artist-in-residence at Publick House in Sturbridge, Massachusetts, and, in 1955, Director of the Portland, Maine School of Fine and Applied Art. Sisson exhibited widely and with success and was the recipient of numerous prizes, medals and juried awards.  His work may be found in the permanent collections of museums nationwide including the Museum of Fine Arts, (Boston), and the Portland Museum of Art, (Maine).
