A dramatic and animated oil painting of a crowd scene showing the feared, mounted police of Mexico City in action against the students in the demonstrations of October 2nd that preceded the opening of the Mexican Olympic Games held in 1968.

 

Benjamin Silva first studied painting with the artist Inimá Paula and Sigaud at Rio the People's School and, subsequently, at the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro. He later attended the college of

Arts nnd Crafts where he studied with Orlando Silva. He then moved to Paris where he attended the Académie de la Grande Chaumiere (1960-63) and studied under the Post-Impressionist painter, Maurice Brianchon. The recipient of numerous medals, prizes and juried awards, Benjamin Silva has exhibited with success worldwide including in New York, Washington DC, Venice, London, Lisbon and Belgrade, among numerous other cities..
