A substantial watercolor and gouache painted circa 1880 showing a group of shepherds, milkmaids and harvesters gathered in a wooded glad and preparing for the end of their work day.

 

This notable Anglo-Irish painter studied and the Royal Dublin Society School and began exhibiting with the Royal Hibernian Academy in 1852, at the age of seventeen. After moving to London, he exhibited widely and with success, including at London's Roayl Academy (The Home of the Red Deer, 1865), the Royal Society of Birtish Artists and the Royal Institute. Faulkner also painted in the United States during the 1880's.
