This notable American Post-Impressionist artist was first active in St. Ives, England from c. 1895. He immigrated to the United States in 1911 and became director of The Studio Art Club in Mount Vernon, New York and, during the summers, a prominent member of The Gloucester Art Colony. He exhibited widely and with great success during his lifetime and his works may be found in the permanent collections of museums nationwide including The Museum of Modern Art in New York, The Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts, The Baltimore Museum, The Detroit Institute of Arts, and the White House, Washington D.C. among many others. We are pleased to offer this dynamic and lyrical still-life by one of the earliest and most prominent American Post-Impressionist painters.
